Director of Protected Wildlife Areas / Cocos Marine Conservation Area (ACMC)
Esteban Herrera has worked at Cocos Island National Park since 2009 as Director of Wildlife Protected Areas / Cocos Marine Conservation Area. He is a biologist by profession and has more than ten years of experience in the management of marine protected areas. In addition, he is the research coordinator of the Coco Marine Conservation Area and the technical focal point of the Eastern Pacific Marine Corridor for Costa Rica, collaborating with colleagues in the region for more than a decade.
Esteban is totally convinced that scientific research is key to make the right decisions in the management of marine protected areas and the ocean in general.
