Head of the Oceanography Department
Dr. Begoña Pérez Gómez is Head of the Oceanography Department at Puertos del Estado, Spain’s National Ports Authority. With a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from the University of Cantabria, she specializes in sea level monitoring and forecasting, operational oceanography, and tsunami early warning systems.
She leads the development of ocean-meteorological services to support Spanish ports and coastal management, notably through the REDMAR tide gauge network. Internationally, she serves on the Management Board of Mercator Ocean International and contributes to advancing global ocean observation and prediction efforts.
