Professor Aldo Drago is a leading Maltese oceanographer who founded the Physical Oceanography Research Group at the University of Malta. He played a key role in developing Malta’s national marine observing system, setting up permanent sea monitoring and operational marine forecasting services. As former Executive Secretary of MedGOOS and Director of the IOI-Malta Operational Centre, he has contributed significantly to regional ocean governance. His work focuses on advancing ocean observation infrastructure to support sustainable marine management.
